Nature's Calling

A Mindful Outdoor Experience for Men interested
in self-discovery, connecting with nature,
& connecting with other guys

Welcome to a retreat where we aren't retreating from anything. Instead, we are immersing and emerging.  We practice leaning into the hard and uncomfortable (mental, emotional, physical , spiritual, relational) to deepen our introspection and learn more about our intended place in this world. We connect with both the beauty and unforgiving nature of NATURE, while emerging more confident, connected, and complete.

Your Trail Map

Many folks come to us feeling disconnected,  stressed, overwhelmed, discontent, etc. That's understandable with the many mixed messages abundantly circulating. Some come for a deeper knowing of self and who they are in relationships. Some come  for meaningful connections with other guys outside of obligatory work and family relationships. All come to experience the inherent benefits of returning to our natural habitat - nature. At the root of our work is knowing one self, what's truly important, and learning how to effectively  prioritize and move toward what we truly value.

We are not teaching anyone how to be men. Instead, we’re providing each person the skills, space, and opportunity to connect with who you really are- your true and authentic identity, as well as connect with other guys in a meaningful way. In order to do that, you may first need to shed any facades you've carried in attempt to control how you're perceived. We attract what we project - if what you put out into the world is genuine and authentically you, you're more likely to draw in healthy connections. Here, we ground ourselves in facts of the present, separating from stories formed from repetitious patterns of past experiences and predictions of the future to avoid discomfort or pain. We can do hard things, and we actually need discomfort for building resilience. The past is informative, but not prescriptive. Many people have at least some portion of life where they don't recognize the outward version of themselves, or at least don't feel confident in owning that identity. Here, there is absolutely no proving yourself to anyone, but instead discovery and/or confirmation of Self. Trees don't judge, and neither do we.

Within the setting of our original habitat (NATURE), we’ll immerse ourselves in this healing, majestic, and brutally honest place, in order to emerge more confident and complete, humble and secure, vulnerable and strong.

In this immersion, you can expect to learn about yourself, connect with other humans and the abundant life in nature, learn to navigate the world and relationships differently. You’ll be guided in mindful and meditative practices, gratitude And intention setting, and basic skills for surviving in nature. We’ll be using Mindful Response Method and mindful nature immersion as foundations for learning.

More about your your Men's Retreat

By the time you leave these forested mountains, you'll notice a sense of calm, contentment, and connection, which is all yours to take with you and recreate whenever you like. Everything you learn and experience, here, is approachable and can be sustained on your own.

  • a greater sense of comfort and connection with the natural world,

  • a strong foundation in, or more fine-tuned, mindfulness and meditation practice,

  • discovery and/or confirmation of a deeper knowing of self,

  • meaningful connections with other guys beyond partners, work, nuclear family, and social media.

  • a safe space to be yourself, without screens, notifications, obligations, or judgment

Even if you've been camping and hiking before, even if you already have a healthy mindfulness or meditation practice, even if you already have friendships, you may be amazed by the new depths you'll be able to reach when you have an uninterrupted safe space to press pause on the speed and chatter of your busy life, and immerse yourself in nature's restorative properties in this way.

In addition to plenty of relaxing and exploring outdoors, this retreat invites safe space for judgement-free conversation about identities we take on as men, as well as relationships, purpose, and ways to more purposefully and intentionally participate in this life. How do you connect with your identities? How do you protect these identities or project them to others? What rules or agreements do you put energy into upholding in order to maintain these identities? Did you make these rules, or did someone else? Do these rules still belong, or do they need editing.

Though this experience is cathartic and deeply soul-enriching, it is neither therapy, nor a religious/faith-based retreat. We welcome any adult identifying as male and able to navigate forested mountain terrain.

* Thoughtfully planned and nutritious meals are provided throughout your stay, including day 1 dinner, 3 meals for days 2 and 3, and breakfast on day 4. Snacks and non-alcoholic beverages are also included.

** A list of items you'll need to bring with you can be found HERE.

***A majority of your time will be spent outside. Weather can be unpredictable. We'll prepare as best we can, but

"The general flexibility/“invitation” to participate attitude felt very freeing, unlike most religious retreats where forced participation forces most to be uncomfortable and not open up."
